Naomi House is a purpose-built children's hospice that provides a homely environment for children and young people with life-limiting conditions that means they will not live to become adults.
They provide care and support through good days, difficult days and last days to children, young people, and their families.
They are an entirely independent, charitable organisation committed to enhancing the quality of life. Each child and young person is an individual and Naomi House strives to meet their changing physical, emotional, social, spiritual, and cultural needs throughout the course of their life.
They also recognise that each child and young person is part of a family and they consider the needs of all family members and offer support and practical help to them during life and after death.
They supply: :
- respite care – for families with a life-limited child
- palliative care – to alleviate the symptoms experienced by someone with an illness or condition that cannot be cured and make them as comfortable as possible.
- terminal care - by offering expert care in the final stages of the child or young person’s life, and offering symptom management and support for the family
- bereavement care – support the family with difficult practical issues that need addressing, such as registering the death and planning the funeral service, alongside the emotional care and support in the initial difficult days
- music therapy - the use of a music room, filled with all kinds of instruments, to enable all children with a variety of abilities to express themselves and put a smile on their faces
- play therapy – to give children another means of expression, creativity stimulation and an outlet for communication
- hydrotherapy – for children with muscle conditions, stiff joints and limited movement
- multi-sensory therapy – offers the child a soothing, relaxing atmosphere or an interactive environment to stimulate
Naomi House is entirely dependent upon voluntary and charitable donations. With no statutory funding available, their fundraising team works strenuously to raise in excess of £2 million each year. The vast majority of their income comes from direct fundraising - from the community, companies, individuals, legacies, grants from charitable trusts and events.
There are so many ways that you can help them. Without your support, Naomi House would not be able to provide the care and support that their families so desperately need.
So here are some suggestions:
